The Restoration
This is part of the FM III Turbo system that is waiting to be installed. This is not the complete kit. Missing from the picture is the turbo, exhaust manifold and downpipe.
These are the wheels. They are 17" MHT Quans.
The car is home and on my lift. Now the REAL work begins!!
This is the Hard Dog Roll bar. Having the entire interior out of the car makes this job easier but it is still a lot of work. The rear subframe is also out which makes this job more pleasant.
Some mounting pictures of the roll bar. I coated the mounting brackets with undercoating underneath the car.
Rear suspension (subframe) removed for replacement with new (used) parts, new bushings and Fm suspension kit. This car has 162,000 miles and those are the original shocks!!!!
The newer subframe is from a 93 Miata and has the extra brace. This donor car had about 50k miles. The old frames are rusty and ugly.
This is the only way to get the bushings out. This is a 6 ton press that makes easy work of the bushings! It was only $69!!!
Out with the old and in with the new. These are the rear suspension arms. The old bushings are lined up and the new bushings are in the arms. The press makes fairly easy work of changing the bushings.
